Job Description:The Glen Allen, VA office of Schnabel Engineering is hiring a (hybrid) Cyber Security Specialist to play a vital role in keeping the company’s data, infrastructure, and services secure.  This position requires an ethical, reliable, detail-oriented individual who stays current on IT security trends with experience researching and resolving security threats.  This person will proactively monitor the company’s network to identify potential security risks, report on security breaches, create/update documentation, and train employees on security best practices.Job Responsibilities:The Cyber Security Specialist will work closely with the Security Team to: 

  • Collect and analyze logs for cybersecurity issues, high risks, unusual activity, etc 
  • Respond to immediate alerts based upon risks 
  • Review reported phishing attempts and attachments for security risks 
  • Manage security software and applications 
  • Resolve cybersecurity issues with credential attacks and business email compromise 
  • Assist in Incident Response and remediation 
  • Assist in the implementation of security initiatives and applications 
  • Assist in identifying and resolving cybersecurity vulnerabilities across systems 
  • Asist in obtaining and researching new security applications and solutions 
  • Assist in evaluating purchased software for security risks and possible vulnerabilities 
  • Assist with employee cybersecurity education and phish simulations 
  • Assist in building security policies and documentation 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent field. 
  • At least one year’s work experience as a Security Specialist, Systems Administrator, or Network Administrator 
  • Security+ Certification 

Other Requirements: 

  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening
  • Ability to work independently and also within a team to research and resolve issues.
