Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creating purchase orders and ordering parts for the shop and various jobs.
  • Create work orders
  • Responsible for stocking of parts, tracking of available inventory, sourcing and location information.
  • Distributing consumables and inventory for specific projects. Sending packing slips and ensuring the correct quality and quantity of order.
  • Developing and maintaining a tracking system to manage stock, including numbering organization system and tracking minimums and maximums of inventory.
  • Ordering parts when inventory is low and negotiating pricing with suppliers. Seeking out other vendors to ensure the most economical option.
  • Monitoring all outstanding orders and following up with vendors when necessary.
  • Responsible for all UPS, FedEx and LTL shipments.
  • Working effectively with Mechanics and Superintendents, including, but not limited to issuing purchase orders on their behalf, ensuring they have the associated paperwork with orders and confirming receipt of deliveries.
  • Communicating to the relevant team members about delays or other issues regarding part orders.
  • Completing, submitting and filing necessary paperwork.
  • Cross-training other members of team on inventory, tracking, computer and paperwork processes.
  • With training, operating heavy equipment including forklift, skid steerer and overhead crane as needed.
  • Assist Equipment Manger with creating equipment and job databases
  • Serving as a Safety Leader at all times.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Competent computer skills.
  • Experience of heavy machinery operation and capabilities an advantage
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment and machinery parts and advantage
  • Excellent communication skills essential
  • Ability to work with a wide range of. Departments e.g. Shop staff and Management, Mechanics and Project staff

  Education and Experience RequirementsVocational school training or apprenticeship preferred. 5+ years of experience working as a Parts Manager or similar. Experience operating heavy equipment a plus. Must have the capability to pass required safety certifications. Physical Requirements

  • Able to work long periods in all weather conditions.
  •  Must be able to move up to 50 pounds at a time.
