Job Description
DescriptionYour role at GEI.Under the direction of a licensed Senior Engineer, perform a broad range of engineering duties, including preparation of design documents and plan sets, to support GEIs mining, solid waste, construction services, and environmental business lines.Essential Responsibilities & Duties- Participate in client meetings, assist in the preparation of project proposals including scoping, budgeting and scheduling tasks, and assisting in managing project/task budgets.
- Lead junior staff in project related tasks.
- Contribute to business development by collaborating professionally with others within GEI and networking in the professional community, complete trainings to be an effective Seller-Doer, prepare for professional engineering licensure and participate in local charitable organizations.
- Interpret and process sCPTu data to calculate soil parameters, estimate soil strengths and serve as cross-organizational resource on sCPTu data interpretation.
- Perform seepage and slope stability analysis using modelling software and write reports.
- Support work in the following engineering disciplines: Geotechnical Engineering (Mining, Dam Safety, Building Foundations), Water Resources (Hydrology and Hydraulics), Civil Engineering (Site Development), and Solid Waste (Landfill Design and Construction).
- Support site investigations and site assessments including soil borings and testing, geotechnical instrumentation monitoring, and technical oversight of subcontractors.
- Support data management and geotechnical analysis, technical report development, and assist in preparation of technical presentations and proposals to clients and regulators.
- Must have Bachelors degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- Must have three (3) years of civil engineering experience involving the following: (1) soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering, and/or slope stability evaluations pertaining specifically to tailings basin operations and management; (2) construction observation, water resources, and site design; (3) working with geotechnical engineering software including LPile, Group, Sigma/W, SEEP/W, Slope/W, Settle3, GRLWeap, and CAPWAP; and (4) preparing technical memos, reports, calculations, construction specifications, and other written documents.
- Alternatively, we will accept a Masters degree in civil, geotechnical, geological engineering, or a related engineering field plus one (1) year of the stated experience.
