 Primary ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Project Designer - Public Realm/Transportation, we'll count on you to:

  • Capacity and required skills to lead multidisciplinary teams and perform research, visioning, conceptualization, layout and detailing on architectural and urban design projects
  • Independently coordinate work of a multidisciplinary team through multiple phases of project development
  • Establish owner/client and internal meetings, and participate in reviews with various public agencies for code compliance and statutory reviews
  • Coordinate workload of various team members through multiple project phases to prepare and complete project documents including conceptual sketches, diagrams, renderings, technical drawings and construction-ready packages
  • Review architectural documents for areas of conflict with other design and engineering disciplines
  • Perform QA/QC, technical and design reviews
  • Write and edit technical specifications
  • Achieve consensus with project stakeholders and Incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents
  • Perform design services during construction as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
  • A minimum of 5+ years experience
  • Proficient in completing a BIM Execution Plan, geolocation, model setup, and facilitating clash detection 
  • Interest and focus on design and project delivery technology innovation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Excellent conceptual design and digital graphic representation skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High proficiency in the use of Autodesk Revit and other BIM and 3D software
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation and storytelling skills
  • Must have experience in the preparation and development of architectural contract documents and specifications
  • Knowledge of codes and good planning skills
  • Commitment to a collaborative design thinking mindset
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • A minimum of 7 years experience is preferred
  • Registered Architect in the State of California 
  • Experience and thought generation in the areas of civic architecture, public spaces, urban design, aviation, rail and multi modal transportation facilities 
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED 
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp and 3-D Studio Max but not required.
  • Rhino and Grasshopper experience

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
