This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a Civil Engineer for our Boston, MA office.  The following locations will also be considered: Worcester, MA.  Be involved in projects with our New England Civil Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.WSP employees actively champion Inclusion & Diversity programs and initiatives throughout the country at the national, regional, and local levels.  Your Impact

  • Civil/Roadway task lead on smaller project and support for larger complex projects - responsible for key project elements, independent assignments, and working as a team member on all phases of transportation project design & construction phases.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and oversee the work of junior-level staff and technicians.
  • Support the design of roadway/highway projects from inception to completion, including horizontal geometry, cross sections, profiles, and grading for a wide range of project types from contextual Complete Streets improvements to interstate highway design development.
  • Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction issues or problems.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You AreRequired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant post-education experience in Civil Engineering design for transportation projects.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
  • Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Detail- and results-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in preparing drawings using Bentley Microstation, InRoads and/or OpenRoads software.
  • Professional Licensure/Certification.
