About the role

DNV Maritime Americas is seeking a Surveyor and Auditor to join our Miami location. As a fleet in service surveyor you will be a member of a highly qualified team of surveyors and auditors serving the cruise Industry and various ship types (eg: Tankers, Bulk carriers, containers) calling at ports in the caribbean.What You will do:

• Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the rules, regulations, instructions, guidelines and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management.
• Work on-site surveys during dry docking and in service.
• Maintain the confidentiality of client's business, processes, designs, developments and documentation at all times.
• When applicable, to supervise the work of others and ensure that it is carried out as above and in an efficient and economic manner.
• Communicate to line management at the earliest opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of the organization.
• Exhibit customer oriented focus through promoting DNV onboard or on site and by acting as a technical resource for customer question.

Surveyor Responsibilities

• Survey/audit ships that call at ports along the US East Coast for compliance with international standards, DNV Classification Rules, and Statutory requirements
• Inspection and certification of materials and equipment at facilities in US East Coast.
• Survey/Inspection of ships during new building construction at local shipyards.

About you

What is Required:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering Degree, Master Mariner and/or equivalent
• Travel requirement (% of the year) 50% Domestic, 25% International per calendar year
• Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job: climbing pilot ladder and tanks, flying in helicopter, crew boat launches, voyage surveys
• Strong customer service orientation
• Understanding of class and statutory surveyor work and responsibilities
• Team player and able to work independently
• Current valid Drivers License
• Language: English speaking / writing proficiency
• We conduct a pre-employment background check
