Job Description
We are hiring for a Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer in our North Bay, Ontario office.Knight Piésold is a specialized global engineering consulting firm with over a century of industry experience. We offer unique opportunities to work on projects around the world.An ideal candidate for this position will have a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Geological or Mining Engineering. The applicant must be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO. Candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience that includes practical rock mechanics work and the ability to communicate fluently in English. Candidate must be able to work in and lead multi-disciplinary teams. This position may include some domestic and international travel to meet the needs of our clients. A graduate degree in rock mechanics, experience in the consulting industry or an operating mine, experience with numerical modelling and the ability to communicate in Spanish or French are all considered assets.Responsibilities may include the following:
- Planning and coordination of geomechanical site investigation programs
- Rock mass classification and the selection of geomechanical domains
- Numerical modelling and analyses including stability assessments for underground excavations and/or open pit slopes
- Reviewing technical design input and deliverables
- Technical mentoring of both Knight Piésold and client staff
