Job Description
General Description
The Survey Coordinator assists the County Surveyor in the preparation of surveys and documents. Supervises the survey crew, works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. The pay for this position is $28.09 hourly.
Essential Functions
- Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
- Serves as supervisor to field crew performing a variety of technical surveying activities.
- Coordinates crew for boundary and topographical surveys. Takes notes, makes field calculations, cuts line, sets monuments when necessary, and gathers information from various resources. Coordinates and supervises field activities to produce accurate and cost-effective surveys by crew.
- Provides crew with daily instructions and organization, records field settings.
- Processes field data used in creating survey maps, boundary surveys, sketch of description, topographic surveys, etc. in AutoCAD
- Implements construction layout.
- Conducts survey related research.
- Prepares detailed surveying reports and calculations to create legal documents and survey maps. Utilizes knowledge of standards of practice as set forth by the Florida Board of Professional Surveyors and Florida Statute Chapters 177 and 472.
- Coordinates with local surveyors, draftsmen, supervisors, and other personnel and provides information to the public as required.
- Performs administrative duties as required.
- Knowledge of TOPCON survey equipment and magnet field software.
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Education, Training, and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with formal training and special courses that are equivalent to satisfactory completion of one (1) year of college education
- Four (4) years relevant experience
- Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Survey Calcs and integration of field data into AutoCAD
Certificates, Licenses, Registration, Skills
- Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.
- Working knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of surveying employing proper field procedures and techniques as per County, State, and statute standards.
- Ability to perform technical mathematical computations, to make estimates and tests, and compile survey data and statistics.
- Ability to operate surveying instruments in the performance of duties, and to test and calibrate surveying equipment.
- Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
- Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
