Michael Baker is committed to delivering a standard of excellence that fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration and technological advancement to help solve our clients' complex challenges. TRANSPORTATION PRACTICEConsistently ranked by Engineering News-Record as a Top 20 transportation firm, Michael Baker International offers clients an integrated team of professionals versed in all aspects of transportation planning, design, permitting, and construction management and inspection.  In addition, Michael Baker International is a recognized leader in the practical aspects of operating and maintaining a safe and efficient transportation infrastructure. DESCRIPTION Virginia offices are seeking a roadway design champion (to be located in any of our Virginia offices) with interstate design experience that can serve as Project Manager and support our pursuit of interstate design projects from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).  Individual must have good oral and written communication skills, project management experience, and, preferably, a solid reputation in the Virginia transportation industry,   PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lead business development pursuits/proposals for roadway design projects (including design/build projects). 
  • Manage roadway design projects. 
  • Provide Quality Assurance on roadway design plans. Become involved in professional organizations like VTCA, APWA and ASHE to promote Michael Baker to potential clients, contractors, and other consultants.  Participate in monthly corporate transportation meetings.
  • Virginia Professional Engineer required.  Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification and Project Management Professional (PMP) are preferred, but not required.   
  • Microsoft Office – required.  Microsoft Project, Microstation, Geopak Open Roads – preferred.
