  Join our team in Portland and live in a young, invigorating design hub as a Civil DesignerJob Description:Cardno’s Portland office is seeking a civil designer excited to collaborate and lead design and permitting efforts for private and public projects while working directly with clients and agencies. Our office fosters a mentorship approach from our most junior to senior employees and you will be part of a supportive and proficient team of civil engineering, landscape architecture, and planning. Our office prides itself in each individual taking an active role in our team’s growth and success both professionally and personally. Our projects are evenly split between public infrastructure improvement, private development, and educational campus projects.Our office is centrally located with beautiful views of Willamette Park and the Willamette River.   • Perform design work for civil engineering projects that involve site layout, grading and drainage design, stormwater management, sanitary sewer and water, erosion control, and roadway design. This may include the following with minimal supervision:reviewing applicable standards, regulations & contract requirementspreparing construction drawingscompiling reportscompleting quantity takeoffs and cost estimatesauthoring letters and memospreparing other associated project deliverables
  • Complete quality work within budgets and timelines, with support from project manager
  • Collaborate with project managers and design team on project status, schedules, and issues
  • Ability to coordinate and manage workload as directed by the design team and project manager
  • Engage with senior staff to help develop personal and professional goals
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives of other governmental agencies, contractors, and developers
  • Coordinate with subconsultants and local, state, and federal agencies, with support from project manager
  • Conduct/coordinate construction administration and periodic site visits to monitor quality and work progress
  • Maintain and organize project-related documentation
  • Attend meetings with multi-disciplinary teams and client
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 0 - 5 years of progressive work experience in the relevant specialization.
