Job Description

Are you a highly motivated civil-structural design engineer seeking an environment where your talents are valued and encouraged to grow while working on “outside the box” projects? Join our Seattle, WA, office in a key position performing challenging structural design and construction administration tasks on unique projects. You will collaborate daily on a variety of projects and hone your skills working on marine facilities, building structures and construction engineering tasks. Most of our projects include all aspects of engineering design through onsite construction inspection and contract administration. As a bonus, will have the opportunity for occasional travel in Alaska, Oregon, Washington, and Canada and to support projects being constructed in remote areas.

Essential Duties:

Determine structural loads and perform structural calculations while analyzing and designing existing and new buildings, bridges, retaining and other structures

Assist in the development of construction drawings in Revit and AutoCAD.

Inspect and perform condition assessments of existing structures and develop well written technical engineering reports in MS Word describing the methods of investigation, observations, and recommendations.

Work with other engineers and technicians in the office and other offices to perform work in other related fields such as geotechnical engineering, site-civil design, surveying, environmental engineering, and permitting.

Minimum Qualifications:

B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited engineering school.

5-7 years of experience.

Washington P.E. registration or eligible by comity within 6 months.

Structural analysis software knowledge with RISA, SAP, etc., as well as Revit and AutoCAD.

Proven team player with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and ability to think and perform work independently.

Willingness and ability to perform any and all tasks including design, site assessments, inspections, and marketing..

Completed college coursework should include statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials, determinate and indeterminate structural analysis, soils analysis, foundation design, steel design, concrete design, and preferably timber design and technical writing.

Knowledge of structural loads, load paths, relevant design codes/standards, specifications, contract documents and constructability.

Strong communication skills - technical writing and oral communication skills in English necessary to communicate with clients, coworkers, and contractors.

Strong desire and self-motivated to continue learning in areas of structural design, advances in knowledge of material behavior and design of materials.

Willingness to travel within the U.S. or any worldwide site on an occasional basis.

Valid U.S. driver's license, good driving record, and vehicle insurance.

Legal authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. without need for sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited

Washington State Structural Engineer (S.E.) license.

Previous structural design and construction knowledge and experience.
