Geosyntec is seeking a highly motivated, entry-level civil or geotechnical engineer in the Kennesaw (Atlanta), Georgia office. The individual will apply their academic knowledge to real-world problems, while developing the technical and business skills needed to build the base for a successful consulting career. Working within the utility and federal client sectors, the selected candidate will be heavily involved in Geosyntec’s continued project work related to the coal combustion residual (CCR) market. Experience will be gained within the areas of site grading and stormwater, landfill design, remediation, geotechnical structures, excavation and dredging, and environmental assessments.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The selected candidate will perform assignments under the supervision of level project managers in the practice areas of civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering to support our utility and federal client sectors. Most tasks will be within the CCR market, but the individual will also perform tasks in other company practice areas (remediation, environmental, groundwater, and sediments) as needed. Assignments will be designed to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities in both technical disciplines and the business of professional consulting services. Duties will include, but not be limited to:
Site investigation and characterization using geotechnical and environmental field and laboratory data;
Geotechnical engineering analyses (e.g. slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seepage, etc.);
Civil design, site layout, and development of technical construction drawings;
Development of technical specifications, CQA plans, and other technical reports and documents;
Erosion and sediment control design;
Dredging and contaminated sediment remediation design;
Remedial process optimization and design; and
Construction support services.
Other requirements for this entry-level civil or geotechnical engineering position include:
Training: The position requires successful completion of forty (40) hours of OSHA health and safety training for working with potentially contaminated materials, annual 8-hour refresher courses, first aid training (every two years), CPR training (every two years), and annual medical monitoring, all paid for by the firm.
Fieldwork: Up to 30%.
Overnight Travel: Up to 30%.

B.S. in civil or geotechnical engineering from an ABET accredited University (required);
Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in civil or geotechnical engineering (preferred);
Up to 3 years of experience with a civil contractor or consulting firm (preferred);
Knowledge of engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD Civil3D, HydroCAD, Microsoft Project, SLIDE, gINT, ArcGIS, etc.) or programming, such as visual basic (preferred);
Current Engineer in Training or the ability to obtain within six months of employment (required);
Ability to obtain Professional Engineer registration within four years of employment (required); and
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record (required).
