Job Description


Geosyntec is seeking an exceptional Senior Remediation Engineer to help our growing contaminated site assessment and remediation practices in the greater Philadelphia and New Jersey area. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects, including the financial and technical evaluation, detailed design, permitting, and construction of soil and groundwater remediation systems. We expect that you’d work on a variety of challenging technical projects and leverage your existing relationships to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities. Some of the responsibilities include:

Business development; including capturing new clients and obtaining repeat business from existing clients, leading proposal preparation, and developing and implementing a business development plan;

Designing and overseeing the implementation of projects using in-situ and ex-situ remedial technologies;

Developing feasibility studies and remedial action plans for soil and groundwater projects;

Managing tasks or projects, including tracking project budgets, tracking project schedules, etc.;

Developing monitoring plans, performance criteria, and optimization options for remedial approaches;

Preparing remedial designs to address contaminated soil, groundwater, and sediment under a variety of regulatory programs;

Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;

Coordinating and liaising with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties to implement complex environmental cleanup projects and programs;

Performing remediation system optimization work and identifying system enhancement needs;

Developing life-cycle remediation costs;

Coordinating and managing remediation subcontractors and vendors;

Preparing and presenting technical presentations at professional association and academic conferences;

Management and mentoring of junior staff; and

At times, job may also include fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.

Here are some other things you should know about this Senior Remediation Engineer position:

Training: This position requires OSHA/MSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.

Fieldwork: Up to 10%

Overnight travel: Up to 25%

BS degree in Engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred) or Geology. (required)

Advanced degree in Engineering, with a focus on treatment processes for removing contaminants in environmental media. (required)

10 to 15 years environmental consulting experience, with a focus on investigation and remediation of soil and groundwater contamination. (required)

Professional certification (P.E.) (required)

Experience with design, feasibility testing, system installation, system inspection, and system optimization work. (required)

Specific remediation design and operation experience with technologies such as soil vapor extraction, air sparging, total-fluids recovery (oil/water), total-phase vacuum extraction, chemical oxidation, and reductive remediation. (required)

Consulting experience working for both private and public sector clients. (preferred)

Experience with development, validation, and commercialization of soil/groundwater remediation technologies. (preferred)

Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)

Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (required)

Excellent leadership skills. (required)

Excellent oral and written communication skills. (required)

Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)

Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)

Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. (required)
