SCS Engineers is seeking an energetic, forward-thinking Environmental/Planning Project Manager to assist in leading our environmental group with a strong technical presence in our Santa Maria, CA office. This position will offer the right person significant opportunities for leadership and growth within SCS. This individual would provide leadership, direction, and coordination for regional projects and clients and would interact with senior managers in developing planning initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating the entire project and major task assignments. Plans, develops, and executes land use planning, engineering, or scientific projects
Manages multiple smaller projects or one or two large projects. Schedules project staff, assigns work, tracks progress, reports to the client and management
Maintains liaison with individuals and units within the company or outside, with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to his/her field
Responsible for the profitability of projects and satisfying client expectations for the project
Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of planning, engineering, or scientific work in a part of a major project or in total on a project of moderate scope
Participation on projects may include client contact, scheduling of personnel, and other management duties such as projecting manpower requirements, billing projections, invoicing, and accounts receivable management
Communicating with clients, third party and regulatory agents regarding project status, schedules and compliance issues
Ensuring adherence to client and corporate contract specifications in all activities including Health, Safety, Security, and Environment
Responsible for proposal preparation, including review of RFP', preparation of written proposals and/or qualification packages
Participate in marketing efforts needed to gain new clients and project work
A Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, City planning or similar required
Minimum of 5 years of relevant environmental, engineering, or land use planning work experience
Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required
Must be detail-oriented and a team player with great communication, strong technical writing skills, analytical, organizational, and time management skills
