For more than 60 years, Simpson Strong-Tie has focused on creating structural products that help people build safer and stronger homes and buildings. Considered a leader in structural systems research, testing and innovation, Simpson Strong-Tie works closely with industry professionals to provide code-listed, field-tested products and value-engineered solutions. Its structural products are recognized for helping structures resist forces produced during high wind and seismic events. The company’s extensive product offering includes engineered structural connectors, fasteners, fastening systems, lateral-force resisting systems, anchors and products that repair, protect and strengthen concrete.
Simpson employs hundreds of engineers responsible for the design and support of the product they develop. For the most part these engineers are civil engineers who have many years of experience in structural design. They have landed at Simpson after years of experience in the consulting industry and utilize their building design experience to design high quality products that keep structures together during loading events which ultimately save people’s lives.
Every year, Simpson brings on multiple summer interns to work with their engineering team. These paid internships provide an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience in the field of structural engineering. Interns will learn from our experienced professionals, with the opportunity to put your education into practice. We'll treat you as one of us, involving you in discussions, encouraging your technical growth and expanding your abilities. You will get a unique opportunity to not only perform engineering work but be involved in destructive testing of products which will help you see a unique side of engineering. Our goal is to provide you with the confidence and skills you need to make an impact in your field after you graduate.
Throughout the summer we also will devote time to train you on engineering fundamentals that relate to the structural engineering profession. This training will be taught by industry experts on the subject and provide you a unique learning opportunity that will be great addition to your resume. We will also pair you up with a mentor who will discuss your progress throughout the summer and provide you helpful tips to assist you in making decisions on where you want to go with your career and how to get there.
