Job Description

We seek a Project Engineer/Task Manager to support the program management team at DC Water in the design and planning of complex and innovative combined sewer, stormwater, wastewater conveyance, and wastewater treatment projects. He/she will lead small teams of engineers and technicians and have direct interaction with the client’s project staff.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

-Engineering design and consulting for complex assignments, including hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, utility plans, technical specifications, infrastructure condition assessment and rehabilitation, cost estimating.

-Review of engineering designs, bid packages, RFPs, and Statements of Work prepared by others, as part of a program management role in support of the client’s Capital Improvement Plan implementation.

-Participate in assignments as a member of a team, sometimes in a lead role in particular areas of expertise, including peer mentorship of design and consulting staff.

-Presentation of project deliverables to clients.

-Participate in local/regional business pursuits and positioning activities on future projects.

-Actively participate in professional societies and associations to continue to maintain and improve brand image of Greeley and Hansen.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: B.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required. M.S. degree preferred.

Experience: 5-10 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering consulting performing studies, design and construction services for municipal clients.

Certifications, Licenses: Professional Engineering licensure is required.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

Experience in the preparation of contract drawings, specifications, opinions of costs, and other contract documents for water and sewer, and wastewater treatment plants.

Experience in the study and design of gravity sewers, pressure sewers and force mains.

Familiarity with asset management concepts, including asset inventory, condition assessment, risk-based project prioritization, and capital improvement planning.

Experience working with hydraulic models and GIS databases.

Experience working on a team with other engineers.

Strong communication and technical writing skills.

Experience working with datasets and utilizing MS Excel/MS Access and or other programming tools to analyze data to derive meaningful insights.
