Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team in Somerset, NJ.

Key Responsibilities

Ensuring the management and coordination of project staff and sub-contractors to ensure safe, cost effective, efficient and timely completion of projects in order to meet and/or exceed client expectations

Acting as a technical professional resource for the successful competition of multiple major challenging infrastructure development projects

Developing plans, designs, and studies that meet the client’s needs and comply with all applicable regulations

Developing and maintaining communication channels with clients, stake holders, and internal Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions personnel to ensure that work flows smoothly as well as providing first class services

Overseeing the development of project budgets, schedules and reports

Assist/pursue individual marketing efforts to help grow key client accounts

Manage and collect site-specific data, meeting with clients and constantly monitoring work performances

Skills / Qualifications

Basic/Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in environmental science or similar field

10 – 15 years operations experience with environmental projects including at least 8 years increasing responsibility as a project manager

Knowledge and experience in Federal and NJ land-use regulatory programs including Freshwater Wetlands, Waterfront Development, Coastal Wetlands, CAFRA and FHA

Experience and knowledge of specialized regulatory programs such as FERC and/or BOEM OCS permitting a plus

Knowledge and experience with NEPA documentation

Experience in managing a portfolio of projects

Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems

Demonstrated professional judgement, consistency, and attention to detail, proven track-record of leading and successfully completing a range of multi-disciplinary projects

Strong written and verbal communications skills, with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation

Must be computer literate and familiar with Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Must be a self-starter and successfully work in a team environment

Must pass drug check, background check, and must have a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with major permitting projects for energy development siting and commercial/industrial development

Some experience with ecological risk assessment a plus

Ability to develop new, proprietary and innovative solutions to current processes is an asset
